Court Circuit airs Matinee interview

Published 10-11-04

Studio Brussels will finally be airing Lux Jansen’s interview with Gavin and Guggi on Wednesday, November 10 (today).

Tune into Studio Brussels via the web. Court Circuit is on between 11pm and 1am, Central European Time.

To start up Studio Brussels’s audio player, click on the ‘luister live’ link in the top menu.

Studio Brussel aired the following parts of the matinee on Wednesday 10 November 2004 during the program “Court Circuit”:
- Dez Mona covering “Sweethome Under white clouds”
- “Pagan Lovesong”
- A censored part of the Luc Janssen interview: the parts where Luc Janssen makes a mess of it were cut out.
Now as lord and master behind his microphone, alone in the studio, Luc Janssen did what he found the one thing needful after his bad interview: The different parts were brought together lousy with nonsense, rubbish and slander.

If you want to hear Gavin and Guggi sing together with Dez Mona and if you really want to hear it all, here is the drill:

Select “Court Circuit” in the dropdown-box

To Luc Janssen,

I’m the guy who climbed on stage during your DJ-set at “A Virgin Prunes matinee” on 30 October 2004 in the AB Club to ask if something should be aired on Studio Brussel.

After the matinee, you probably were a bit offended when you listened to the recordings of the interview. Especially the negative reactions of the audience and the “Offside”-tactic of Gavin and Guggi due to your ignorance must have been a torment. So the only language you could speak during Studio Brussel’s airing on Wednesday 10 November 2004 was, as I expected, slanderous language. But even now you failed laudable.

(The following quotes are almost literal translated from Dutch)
Quote: “The Virgin Prunes were in Brussels in the AB to spin a DJ set but I don’t talk about that unless you want to know that “Fleetwood Mac” was the most exciting part of it and that Gavin and Guggi did a little dance on “New Order…”
You forgot to mention the most important thing: the rare video footage and your own DJ set, the band’s name is “Virgin Prunes” and not “The Virgin Prunes” and “She’s lost Control” is a song from “Joy Division”.
Quote: ”… They were drunk…”
I think you were even more drunk, how on earth can you otherwise explain your confusion of tongues in the band’s name, again it’s “Virgin Prunes” and neither “The Virgin Brunes” nor “The Virgin Punies”.
That you didn’t like their live shows and that the period is closed, gone and far away, is your choice and taste about it, this can be left out of consideration.
Quote: “I have classified their music alphabetical.”
That alphabetical ordering must be a mess because during your DJ-set you were supposed to play some of their records but all I remember is “Pagan Love Song” so I guess the other ones are certainly mislaid.
Quote: “…I have no questions.”
WHY for Heaven’s sake do you accept an interview if you don’t have questions? You were supposed to “grill” them. If you, at least, had made researches into Virgin Prunes, the questions would have followed immediately.
Quote: “Yesterday (9 November 2004), their digital restored and re-mastered back catalogue is released”.
I got my set of the 5 CD’s on the second day of October 2004.
Quote: “In short; history does what it always does, history repeats itself; God is death, Money makes the world turn round, Filth is the beginning of mental health”.
Luc, I also give you a sentence, besides it’s a quote from “Virgin Prunes”, you can write it down: “You don’t seem to make much sense”.

Amen, Jere.

Thanks, Jere. I thought both the interview as the on air comments were incredibly unprofessional. I'd expected more from a veteran DJ such as Mr Jansen.

Many cheers for our dear Jere, at least someone who's not afraid to speak his mind and give Lux his "verdiende vet"!

Big smooch,

This reminds me of Marc Mijlemans (RIP) who used to write reviews for Humo in the early 80ies.
He wrote a review about VP at Hof ter Lo, completely slagging them off (I still have the article somewhere).
I think a good reporter/interviewer does not judge art according to his own personal taste, but gives a neutral (face value)report.
To report is not the same as to interpret.
